Kyle Van Noy breaks up a pass (Source: @NFLonCBS Twitter handle). |
Kyle Van Noy had a huge game for the New England Patriots. He was making plays from the very first drive to the last. The defense was stout in the second half not giving up a touchdown to give the offense the time it needed to win the game.
He will play in his second Super Bowl in two weeks. The opponent is yet to be determined.
Kyle Van Noy, New England Patriots (13-3)
Wild Card: BYE
Divisional: W 35-14 Tennessee Titans
AFC Championship: W 24-20 Jacksonville Jaguars
Van Noy tied for the team lead with nine tackles. He also had a tackle for loss and a pass break up. However, he took a lot of flack from fans for getting bulldozed on a touchdown run by Leonard Fournette. That came just a few plays after he made a three-yard tackle for loss. There was also a lot of complaining about Van Noy's tackling technique on a third down play that allowed the ball carrier to get the first down by a yard. Jacksonville went on to kick a field goal on that drive. On the game's opening drive, Van Noy had a nice pass break up that contributed to that drive ending in a punt.

Van Noy got the last laugh, as he got a sack with 2:00 to play to set up 3rd and 19. He also got credit for a forced fumble on the sack, but Jacksonville was right there to recover.
