BYU Football: Did you know? (Most Passing Yards in a Game)

Brigham Young Cougars head coach LaVell Edwards announce in 1972 that BYU would adopt a pass oriented offense. It was only natural that BYU quarterbacks would start setting NCAA records for passing yardage.
Did you know that Marc Wilson set the NCAA record for most passing yards in a single game with 571 yards against Utah in 1977?
The old record was 561 yards held by Tony Adams from Utah State. Ironically, Adams set the record in 1972 against the Utah Utes.

Wilson's mark stood for three years until Illinois quarterback Dave Wilson passed for 621 yards against Ohio State in 1980.
