BYU Football: Did you know? (Quarterbacks who didn’t miss a game)

The quarterback position is key to the Brigham Young Cougars and every football team, for that matter. Coaches go to great lengths to protect their quarterbacks and keep them healthy for every game.
Did you know that only five BYU quarterbacks since 1973 who have started more than one season have not sustained a major injury?
I define major injury as one that caused a quarterback to miss a game or to leave a game early and not return.

Steve Young (1981-83), Robbie Bosco (1984-85), Steve Sarkisian (1995-96), Max Hall (2007-09), and Jake Heaps (2010-11) are the five.

Three quarterbacks came close. Gary Sheide was knocked out early in his final game, the 1974 Fiesta Bowl against Oklahoma State. Ty Detmer was forced out of the 1990 Holiday Bowl against Texas A&M with two separated shoulders. Brandon Doman left the 2001 game at Hawaii in the second half and did not return.
