BYU Football: Did you know? (Junior College Cornerbacks)

On Wednesday, Brigham Young Cougars head coach Bronco Mendenhall announced that two junior college cornerbacks had signed letters of intent to play football. Mining the JC ranks for cornerbacks is a formula that has been successful for BYU during Mendenhall's tenure.
Did you know that seven of the last eight seasons, a junior college transfer has made at least 44 tackles playing from the cornerback position?
The only season this did not happen was 2008.

2005: Justin Robinson--55 tackles
2006: Ben Criddle--53 tackles (Robinson--41)
2007: Ben Criddle--56 tackles
2009: Brian Logan--44 tackles
2010: Brian Logan--51 tackles
2011: Preston Hadley--51 tackles (Corby Eason--46)
2011: Preston Hadley--61 tackles

Note: 2005 was the first season Bronco Mendenhall was head coach at BYU.

Expect this trend to continue in 2013, unless Mike Hague beats out Sam Lee and Trenton Trammell for the open cornerback position that was vacated by Preston Hadley's graduation.
