Williams, Warner, Van Noy, and Hill all make big plays in NFL week eight

Jamaal Williams, 30 (Denis Poroy, Associated Press)

After such a horrible game on Saturday, BYU Cougars fans really needed something to cheer them up. Former players Jamaal Williams, Fred Warner, Taysom Hill all delivered on Sunday, and Kyle Van Noy kept it going on Monday. There were touchdowns, turnovers, long bombs, sacks, and more.

It was one of the best weeks in a long time for Cougars in the NFL.

Kyle Van Noy, New England Patriots (6-2) W Buffalo Bills 25-6

Van Noy had one of the best games, if not the best, of his career. He led the team in tackles (8), had one tackle for loss, and two sacks. He forced a fumble on one of the sacks that New England recovered and turned into three points. He was also in the backfield disrupting the play and allowing his teammates to get TFLs on multiple other plays. The Patriots needed someone to step up with Dont'a Hightower out of the line up. Van Noy played all 64 downs of defense and eight special teams plays (29%).

Van Noy's 44 tackles on the season are tied for the team lead, according to ESPN.com. He is also in select company for the stats he has accumulated since 2016 (basically, since he joined the Patriots).

Taysom Hill, New Orleans Saints (6-1) W Minnesota Vikings 30-20

Hill completed his first pass on a regular offensive play (his first was on a fake punt), and it was a big one. It went for 44 yards--all through the air.

Hill also had his first career reception for positive yards. He had a rough day trying to run the ball, though. However, he did return two more kickoffs. In total, Hill played 34 percent of the Saints downs on offense and 75 percent of their special teams plays, which both happened to be 18 plays each.

John Denney, Miami Dolphins (4-4) L Houston Texans 42-23

Denney had the misfortune of playing on Thursday night (before the ugly BYU game), so his the great hadn't begun yet. His Dolphins got blasted by the Texans, which was a bad omen for Saturday.

He was the Dolphins long snapper for three field goals, two extra points, and four punts.

He has four tackles this season.

Jamaal Williams, Green Bay Packers (3-3-1) L Los Angeles Rams 28-27

Williams scored his first touchdown of the season, and wasn't shy celebrating it.

Williams also few touches during the game--just 13 plays on offense (25%) total and four special teams plays (12%)--but he got some buzz for his pass protection.

Michael Davis, Los Angeles Chargers (5-2) BYE

Davis probably wishes the Charges didn't have a bye, so he could be a part of "big play day" and continue to build on the positive momentum he has shown the last few weeks.
