Michael Davis (43) had one of the best games of his NFL career (Mike Nowak, Chargers.com). |
It was a relatively quiet week for BYU Cougars in the NFL this week. Two of the biggest names had byes.
There were a couple of head-to-head showdowns. Kansas City head coach Andy Reid and New England linebacker Kyle Van Noy were on opposite sidelines in a Sunday night thriller. Jamaal Williams and Fred Warner created another Cougar-on-Cougar clash in the Green Bay-San Francisco Monday night game.
The Cougars with the biggest days, however, we playing in less glamorous games--John Denney and Michael Davis.
Kyle Van Noy, New England Patriots (4-2), W Kansas City Chiefs 43-40
In the game of the week, Van Noy repped BYU. He made just three tackles on the night. He played 54 defensive snaps (100%), and eight special teams plays (22%).

Taysom Hill, New Orleans Saints (4-1) BYE
Hill brought his mojo back to Provo since the Saints had a bye. It came at the perfect time. Surely, his presence on the sideline had an impact on BYU's game against Hawaii.

John Denney, Miami Dolphins (4-2) W Chicago Bears 31-28
Denney was the Dolphins long snapper on four punts, two extra points, and three field goals, including the game winning kick as time expired in overtime.
He has four tackles this season.
Jamaal Williams, Green Bay Packers (3-2-1) W San Francisco 49ers 33-30
Williams had a solid game for the Packers with his limited touches. He had one run and one catch convert a first down. Oh, and his stiff-arm is as good as ever.

Fred Warner, San Francisco 49ers (1-5) L Green Bay Packers 33-30
Warner had his second "sub-par" game. Maybe teams have learned to steer clear of Warner on the field. He had single-digit tackles once again.
