BYU Football: Did you know? (Taysom Hill and Steve Young)

When Brigham Young Cougars quarterback Taysom Hill took the reins from an injured senior Riley Nelson against Boise State, Hill followed in the footsteps of a BYU legend.
Did you know that both Steve Young and Taysom Hill completed 4 of 10 pass attempts in the fourth game of the season when the senior starting quarterback left the game due to injury?
In 1981, BYU went to Boulder, Colorado to play the Colorado Buffaloes. Senior Jim McMahon hurt his knee and had to leave the game in the third quarter. Steve Young came in and completed 4 of his 10 pass attempts for 63 yards and 2 touchdowns. He also rushed four times for 61 yards. Young had 124 yards of total offense.

Taysom Hill filled in for an injured (back) senior Riley Nelson in the third quarter of the fourth game of 2012 at Boise State. On his 4 of 10 pass attempts, Hill had 42 yards. He also carried the ball 12 times for 72 yards and 1 touchdown. That gave Hill 114 yards of total offense.

Young started the next game in 1981 against Utah State. He completed 21 of 40 passes for 307 yards and 1 touchdown with 1 interception. He carried the ball 21 times for 63 yards.

Oh yeah, BYU won 32-26.
