BYU Football: Did you know? (Jordan Johnson’s Interception Return)

Brigham Young Cougars defensive back Jordan Johnson made a great interception against Washington State in the third quarter, and then proceeded to race 64 yards before being caught nine yards away from the goal line.
Did you know that Johnson’s 64-yard interception return is the longest interception return by a BYU player since 2006?
In the third quarter of game four during the 2006 season, Justin Robinson picked of a Utah State pass and returned it 64 yards for a touchdown.

Although not quite as long, there have been some other long interception returns in the last six years. Scott Johnson had a 56-yard return against Oregon State in the 2009 Las Vegas Bowl. That same season, Andrew Rich had a 52-yard return against Utah.

You have to go back 10 years to find the last interception return longer than 64 yards. Jon Burbidge returned an interception 80 yards for a touchdown against New Mexico in 2002.
