BYU adds QB Zachary Wilson to 2018 recruiting class

QB Zachary Wilson (Steve Griffin, Salt Lake Tribune)

After signing 13 players on the first day of the early signing period for class of 2018 recruits, the BYU Cougars added Zachary Wilson on day two. Wilson is a 6'3" quarterback who weighs 200 pounds. He played for Corner Canyon High School in Draper, Utah.

Wilson is a three-star recruit on each of the three major recruiting websites (247Sports, Scout, and Rivals). He has a good looking highlight reel from his senior year on HUDL.com. Here's what the film shows:

  • He can handle pressure in the pocket and still make a good throw.
  • He can scramble and make accurate throws on the move.
  • He can work around defenders and fit the ball into spots where his receiver can catch it.
  • He has good mobility making several long runs when neccessary.

Wilson did rush for 752 yards as a senior, which led his team. However, from the highlights, he seems to have played in a pro style system. Making plays with his legs was just a bonus, not an integral part of the offense. He also passed for 2,986 yards in 2017.

According to MaxPreps.com, Wilson's career stats are 353 completions, 570 attempts, 5,842 yards, and 45 touchdowns with 14 interceptions.

Wilson was a Boise State commit until just about one week ago. He plans to enroll in classes next month.
