BYU Football: Did you know? (Riley Nelson Rushing)

Brigham Young Cougars quarterback Riley Nelson does not fit the mold of the typical BYU quarterback. Perhaps, nothing accentuates this fact more than his season rushing totals.

Did you know that Riley Nelson is the only BYU quarterback to have at least 100 yards rushing in four different seasons?
Nelson’s rushing totals for each season since 2009 are:

122 (2009)
148 (2010)
392 (2011)
106 (2012—through 8 games)

Although the four 100-yard rushing seasons is atypical for a BYU quarterback, Nelson’s 1.9 yards per rush average in 2012 is comparable to at least one typical BYU quarterback: Max Hall. Hall averaged 1.8 yards per rush in 2008.
