Hill sparks Saints past Eagles; BYU represented on both sides of AFC Championship game

Daniel Sorensen helped make history in Kansas City.

BYU alumni had some big moments this weekend. Unfortunately, Kyle Van Noy and Michael Davis went head-to-head, so someone had to lose. All in all, it was a pretty exciting Divisonal Round that sets up even more exciting Conference Championship games next week. Van Noy vs. Sorensen on the AFC side, and Taysom Hill with a chance to advance to the Super Bowl from the NFC.

Kyle Van Noy, New England Patriots (11-5) W Los Angeles Chargers 41-28

Van Noy made four tackles and broke up one pass. Three of the four tackles were on plays for no gain (the fourth was a two-yard gain). The pass break up should have been an interception.

After the game, Van Noy shared some thoughts with Fox.

Taysom Hill, New Orleans Saints (13-3) W Philadelphia Eagles 20-14

Hill didn't blow up the stat sheet, but he did help spark the Saints. Trailing 14-0 in the second quarter, Hill converted a fourth down on a fake punt that Philafelphia was expecting (the Eagles regular defense stayed on the field). The Saints went on to score a touchdown that drive.

Later in the game, Hill completed a beautiful deep ball for a touchdown. The play did not stand, however, since an offensive holding call was made.

Hill finished the game with two carries for eight yards and one tackle.

Daniel Sorensen, Kansas City Chiefs (12-4) W Indianapolis Colts 31-13

Sorensen helped the Chiefs win their first playoff game since 1993. The Chiefs will now host the AFC Championship game for the first time in franchise history.

Sorensen made three tackles in the win. One was a third down stop that forced a punt. He downed a punt inside the five yard line, but the Colts ran into the punter to give the Chiefs a first down. He also dodged an onsides kick designed to bounce off him.

Michael Davis, Los Angeles Chargers (12-4) L New England Patriots 41-28

Wild Card stats (Ravens): 2 tackles, 2 PBU
Divisional Round stats (Patriots): 5 tackles

Davis had five tackles in the loss to the Patriots that ended the season for the Chargers. One tackle was a third down stop. He would have had a pass break up, but defensive holding on another Charger DB negated the play.
