Thursday Trivia: Same or Better Record Than The National Champion

The correct answer to the last trivia question "Who was the first BYU player to finish the season second in total rushing yards?" is Eldon Fortie in 1962. Fortie ran for 1,149 yards. Preacher Pilot from New Mexico State was the nation's leading rusher with 1,247 yards.

On to this week's question.

This week's theme has been centered around being elite. When BYU won the national championship in 1984, it was the only undefeated team in the country. Yesterday, the Flashback pointed out that in 1996, BYU wasn't the national champion, but it did have the best record in the nation. Therefore, this week’s trivia question asks:
Besides 1984, what years has BYU had the same or better record than the national champion?
Leave your answer in the comments section. Come back next week when the answer is revealed and a new trivia question is asked.
