BYU Football: Did you know? (Kickoff returns for touchdowns)

It is always exciting to see a kickoff returned for a touchdown (unless it is BYU's opponent). Unfortunately, for the BYU Cougars this exciting result doesn't happen very often. To see it happen once in a season has become a special treat. To see two players do it in the same season is even rarer.

Did you know that 1988 is the only season in BYU history that two different players returned a kickoff for a touchdown?

Eric Mortensen had a 100-yard kickoff return for a touchdown against Utah State. Six games later, Tony Crutchfield returned a kickoff 79 yards for a touchdown against the Air Force Academy.

Stacey Corley (2) and Paul Allen (3) gave BYU multiple kickoff returns for touchdowns in the same season by the same player in 1989 and 1961, respectively.
