Busy week for BYU Cougars in NFL: Ziggy is back, Davis starts, Hill has wild play, and Van Noy and Williams head-to-head

Teammates in 2012 and 2013, Van Noy gets ready to take down Jamaal Williams (Evan Siegel, Packers.com).

Week nine of the NFL season saw former BYU Cougars do some good. Ezekiel Ansah didn't just return from injury, but he got a sack. Michael Davis had his biggest game, including playing in crunch time.

In a game that was billed a Brady vs. Rodgers, even though the two were never on the field at the same time, two former Cougars went head-to-head, literally.

Kyle Van Noy, New England Patriots (7-2) W Green Bay Packers 31-17

Van Noy did his part to help New England win the game hyped as Tom Brady vs. Aaron Rodgers. Van Noy led the team with 9 tackles. Several of those were tackles of former BYU teammate Jamaal Williams, including Williams' longest run and reception of the night.

The box score doesn't show a tackle for loss for Van Noy (or M. Brown), but the play by says he got one.

2nd & 3 at GB 32

(6:52 - 4th) (No Huddle, Shotgun) A.Jones up the middle to GB 31 for -1 yards (K.Van Noy; M.Brown).

Taysom Hill, New Orleans Saints (7-1) W Los Angeles Rams 45-35

Hill didn't have a huge role in the Saints handing the Rams their first loss of the season, but he did help set the tone. He had a nine-yard run on 4th and 1 on the game's opening drive to keep it going. It ended in a New Orleans touchdown.

John Denney, Miami Dolphins (5-4) W New York Jets 13-6

Denney got a workout yesterday. He was the Dolphins long snapper for two field goals, one extra point, and nine punts.

He has four tackles this season.

Jamaal Williams, Green Bay Packers (3-4-1) L New England Patriots 31-17

Williams didn't get as many touches as Aaron Jones, again, but he was effective when he got the ball. Jones lost a fumble during the game. Maybe that can help Williams see the field more. It might also help that he was a big part of the Packers' second quarter touchdown drive.

Both of his receptions resulted in first downs. He also had two first down runs.

Michael Davis, Los Angeles Chargers (6-2) W Seattle Seahawks 25-17

Davis got his first career start at cornerback. He had a career high eight tackles. Two were third down stops short of the first down. Seattle picked on him trying to get a touchdown on what would have been the final play of the game. Davis was called for pass interference, but it helped preserve the win. Seattle couldn't score from the one-yard line the next play.
