Poll Results: Will BYU's final 2012 home game be a sellout?

When the Brigham Young Cougars play the Idaho Vandals tonight at LaVell Edwards Stadium, a crowd less than the 63,470 capacity will be in attendance, according to 85% of poll voters. Just 14 percent of voters thought the game that will kickoff at 8:15 p.m. Mountain Time will be a sellout. One percent of voters was undecided.

I feel very confident that the game will not be a sellout, which is rather disappointing.

Even without possible snow for the game tonight, the stadium would have empty seats. The track record of fans speaks for itself. The final home game last year had the same kickoff time. Only 57,134 people attended.

That was far from the first time this century the final home game has not been a sellout.

2010: 59,077
2009: 64,301 (sellout)
2008: 64,107 (sellout)
2007: 64,749 (sellout)
2006: 63,814*
2005: 64,312 (sellout)
2004: 53,618
2003: 64,486 (sellout)
2002: 60,764
2001: 66,149 (sellout)
2000: 62,308

* The capacity of LaVell Edwards Stadium in 2006 was 64,045.

Only half of the time the last 12 years BYU has had a sellout for the final home game. Five of the six sellouts were games against archrival Utah. Not even in 2000 for LaVell Edwards' final home game, a game played in the afternoon, was the game a sellout.

Thank you to everyone who voted. Don't forget to come back after the Idaho game to vote in the new opinion poll.
